Shining, streaming, gleaming, flaxen waxen!

Can anyone name the song I quoted in the title?

It's taken a long time, but I finally love my hair.
Those of you who have known me for years may remember some of the following:
  • The never-ending spiral perms of the late 80s
  • The ill-advised short-cut in 3rd grade
  • The worst hair cut of my life in '95 RIGHT before I started high school
  • The streaky highlights of early college years
  • The self-administered maroon hair that appeared every so often
Really, I should be posting pics with this! I will have to dig up some oldies and scan them
ANYWAY....this is all just to say that, while I have had some HORRIBLE hair in the past, I actually like my hair now, AND, I am often asked how I get it to stay so healthy. It's simple. I credit the following two products with allowing me to grow my hair out, color it, heat style it almost every day, and still look shiny and full.

Ladies (and some gentlemen) meet my dear friends:

I use a nickel-size amount of moroccan oil after every washing--I just rub it between my hands and pull it through my ends. AMAZING! This changed my life. It keeps your hair shiny and conditioned, but is not greasy. I really this this is what lets me heat style my hair so frequently, yet have minimal split ends.

My other fave:

I use 3 pumps of this after every shampoo as well--rubbing it between my palms and spreading it through my hair starting at the roots. This prevents that awful breaking off of hair that can occur when you wear frequent ponytails or pull your bangs back off your face. It also helps keep my color-treated hair stronger as the roots grow out.

For styling, I typically use Bumble and bumble products. I will do a separate post about those.
What are your hair care secrets?
